Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Wherever you are, Christmas is usually the most magical time of the year. If you’re lucky enough to be spending it in a new place with new found friends, you’ll get to experience a different approach to December 25th. There are a whole lot of amazing things to do at this time of year in the United States, and you may not even know where to start! Christmas in the U.S. typically means sitting down with the family for a meal and exchanging presents; it’s about sharing and togetherness.

However, spending this holiday away from home can be daunting for some international students, especially if their home is particularly far away. We’ve found that many international students who spend their holidays here are invited to have dinner with generous host families on Christmas Day. So, if you get an opportunity to witness firsthand how Christmas is celebrated in an American household, we encourage you to take advantage of it. Keep in mind that public transport schedules and store hours often vary on Christmas Day, so check before taking an impromptu trip to the mall!

All of us at WES Student Advisor join in wishing you a merry Christmas! Thank you for your support, here’s to a happy, healthy holiday season.
